500 ml bottle into a tulip snifter. 2018 edition. Had 8/7/18.
Pours a hazy golden- apricot color, with a two inch foamy head with great retention and lots of creamy lacing. Aromas of Belgian yeast, gin, wheat, malt, white grapes, wine, apples, light spices, light oak, juniper as it warms. The flavor is a little more gin forward, then malt, Belgian yeast, oak, wheat, spices, wine, some apples and juniper, light vanilla. It’s a little peppery on the finish. Smooth, a solid medium body, well carbonated.
Thought this would be good, but it’s much better than that. Very expressive flavor, great aroma, great feel. Surprised by the strong grape and wine notes, too. The Koval barrels are terrific, and while they’re fairly prominent, they integrate well with the base beer. Well worth a purchase.
