500 ml bottle into a snifter. 2017 edition, had 1/3/19.
Pours a fairly dark amber, cloudy, with a half inch foamy head and some foamy lacing. The aroma starts with a hint of sour on the open, but it dissipates. Aromas of rye whiskey, coffee, malt, toffee, rye, caramel, some figs and tobacco, light dates, a little chocolate, faint vanilla. The flavor also has a hint of sourness on the open, but it too, dissipates. Flavors of rye whiskey, coffee, malt, rye, caramel, some figs, light tobacco and dates, a little vanilla. Smooth, a good medium to full body, well carbonated.
A few months later and this would have been a different review, as it was at the beginning of going bad. The Koval barrels star, although they’re light. A great, well developed aroma and a very good flavor. The body could have been a touch beefier, probably because of the cold brew. Very enjoyable.
