500 ml bottle into a snifter. 2017 edition, had 12/17/19.
Pours a darker amber/garnet, semi opaque, with a one and a half inch foamy head with a decent amount of foamy lacing. Aromas of caramel, rye whiskey, chocolate, malt, some figs, some tobacco. Has a bit of a sour smell that somewhat dissipates. Flavors of rye whiskey, caramel, malt, raisins, some vanilla, light figs and cherries. The taste is also a little off, sour. It mostly dissipates. Smooth, a good medium body, well carbonated.
The aroma was a bit compromised, the flavor less so. Still very good, would have been great when fresh. Koval barrels are excellent. Of the four variants of this, three had a problem of various degrees. It’s a shame.
