This Sour Golden Ale was initially brewed with Marechal Foch and Frontenac grapes, raspberries, and blueberries before being fermented in oak barrels from J Vineyards & Winery from the Russian River Valley of California. The aroma of Barrel #15 is a complex blend of fruity characteristics, with the grapes taking the main stage; the raspberries and blueberries are the perfect addition to accentuate the grapes. An underlying fermentation character provides an excellent counterbalance of bright acidity and earthy aromas to the fruit. A medley of grape, raspberry, blackberry, and blueberry flavor is balanced by the sour acidity and earthy, barnyard fermentation character. This beer finishes off with a layer of tannins from its time spent in the barrels, which provides a mouthfeel for a complex and dry finish.
