Thanks to basaywhat for this 16 oz. can. Split with my wife to kick off the night’s festivities, plus she hates wheat beers, so I get to see that face.
The pour is slightly occluded yellow with a nose of apples & Dune mélange. Interesting.
Pop A Wheelie confounds expectations. It tastes like a blend of alcoholic apple cider, mulled with spices, then cut with a wheat beer. No, really. Coriander, orange juice, & it’s very prickly & carbonated, with a finish that veers wildly into raw sugar. That finish limits the attractiveness & the amount I’d like to introduce to my body.
I say again: interesting. Is there a rating for that? I don’t love this, but it’s a brave effort & something new, which ain’t easy to do in beer circa 2020. Pretty good brew, which far outstrips my expectation (which was: awful).
