these guys dont get nearly the credit that i reckon they deserve for having some really well made beers. maybe part of it is that a lot of them are quite simple, like this one here, and in classic styles. not a lot of folks get overly stoked up about a classic english bitter, but this is a darn good beer, and like a lot of the stuff i have had from liquid mechanics, technically really dialed in. deep amber in color with a tall just off white head that leaves sexy lace as i drink it down, lots of clarity and visible carbonation, pretty beer. it smells and tastes classic, good enough to have come from england, just way fresher than the imports ever taste, but with a nice maris otter and english crystal type grain complexion, a dry grassy hop note, copper and minerals, and even a light citrus hit, orange peel there late. its got some light caramel type sweetness up front, but turns bready when the english yeast enters in the middle, and is even crisp by the finish. great depth of flavor, sort of toasted and biscuity, very well refined, nice yeast character, and super well made and drinkable overall, with great carbonation and a soft medium body. i know it will never grab any headlines, but good english bitter is a wonderful experience, and i reckon this is one of the better ones happening in colorado right now...
