Arrives a bit light for the style, ,more brown ale than black lager. Tan head drips fast and leaves little lacing.
Smell is coffee, toasty malts and some caramel. Balance is okay.
Taste is coffee up front, heavily toasted malt, some caramel and vanilla notes at the periphery. Not a great balance.
Touch under medium on the body, effervescence is restrained. Relatively clean on the finish. All told, not a great example of the style.
