What’s Irish is that it’s a red malt base, but blonde in that the yeast floral nose makes you think Belgian. Just enough hops to balance the complex. It stands alone, and I like it.

Look: It pours golden with a white head. Head retention is moderate.
Smell: It has a honey and flower aroma to it. It has a spring type flowery aroma that doesn't have one distinct aroma. The overall smell is quite sweet.
Taste: It has a sweet, herbal type flavor to it. There is a bit on honey in the taste. The sweetness is of the floral variety without being able to pin anything specific down. The is some honey and oats in the taste as well.
Feel: It has a fairly light feel to is and it finishes sweet.
Overall, the combination of flavors is no distinct and the balance doesn't quite work for me overall. Overall, the flavors are a bit complex, but do not quite work in a way that provides balance.

Undated 12 oz can of Benford "Irish Honey Ale".
Appearance: clear copper body with a thin head that has limited retention and leaves scant lacing.
Smell: yeasty bread with honey and a hint of soft ripe fruits.
Taste: Moderate strength; bready, yeasty and fruity with hints of dark honey Low bitterness increases in the finish. ABV seems higher than 5.1%
Mouthfeel: Medium body. Near medium carbonation. Dry finish.
Overall: OK, but much closer to an Irish Red than, as listed on BA, an Amer. Blonde.

Taste: A soft, light breadiness mingled with a sweetish honey character with a little hint of waxed lips. Scantly estery. Very low hop character and bitterness. Gently drying finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium carbonation.
Overall: So-so.
