a blood orange and tangerine sour ale, not a wild beer, and not really a berliner either, but we still dont have an option for kettle sour when adding a beer here on BA, someday i hope. anyway, its a nice little beer, weirdly strong for what it is, but you dont taste it. suggests to me they used a real enough fruit to have it send the abv a little high, which i am fine with. the souring is pretty clean, a little sweatiness to it at the very end, but enough fruit and pucker to push past that pretty quickly. the fruit element is rather natural, orange and orange candy notes for sure, tangy without being too acidic, which is nice with the citrus, and maybe a little fresh lemon twang here too. the base is a little full, raw, maybe wheaty, not cleaned up enough for me. i dont need filtration in this, but i want it to be a little brighter than it is, it heavies up a very summery flavor profile and with lower than needed carbonation, the texture doesnt match the taste for me. a shame because the fruit flavors are nice in here, the sourness works with them well, and there is a lot to like here. like their other beers i had while i was in, this is a step away from being in its best form...
