Taster at SHINE. Medium golden pour, patchy head. Resinous hoppy aroma, citrus peel, grassy. Taste is almost all hop, bitter, sticky, mouth coating, dry.

very solid and real fresh ipa here, a little maltier than is trendy these days, but in the fall when a little more structure and balance are desirable, i thought this really hit the mark. i havent had much from these guys, but this is pretty impressive, if basic. its rich orange colored, frothy headed, and has nice lace on the edges of the glass. it smells fresh and pungent, piney and northwestern, with some obvious sticky dankness and a light toasted warmth from the grain. the flavor is great too, hoppy from start to finish not just at the end, and its not just dry hopping, but full flavor and some bitterness throughout, full spectrum hop profile, even if the varietals come across as extremely familiar. light citrus, spruce, and floral honey layers to this, fuller medium body with just enough balancing sweetness from the malt, and a clean ferment, very professionally executed. i love the freshness, the texture, and the robust finish, light lemon to it as it warms, and a honey cereal complexion behind the hops. very good, i will be on the lookout for more beers from these guys when i am back in montana next!

On tap at the Montana Ale works in Bozeman MT. Taste lingers, oddly enough, of half smoked cigarettes. Couldn’t get past that. Traded it in at the bar for a different beer.

Excellent brew. Obtained in Whitefish at the Buffalo Cafe. Pine up front with mild citrus flavor midway. Finishes with adequate bitterness. One of the best IPAs I have enjoyed in the Northwest.
