Would get again. Really well balanced and drinkable Imperial from a local brewer that I never had before. Strong malt base without being overly sweet, still packs a punch.

Malty for a double ipa. Resin finish, but almost no hops up front. Gets better as it warms up

Batch #18 poured vigorously into a tulip. Looks more amber than orange. Three fingers of white head add some nice contrast. This foam dissapates in about two minutes, leaving a nice ring that sits about two millimeters over the liquid. Some sticky lacing on each sip, but any foam again disappears quickly.

I don't get much citrus off the nose, but there is some lemon there. There's a very acidic, coppery thing going on. Seems more like a strong red ale than an imperial IPA. The hops are all up in there, but I expected a tad more punch because this bottle should only be a few days old.

Taste follows the smell. This is a big, syrupy red ale. More sickly sweet than bitter. Tastes like chewing brown sugar, caramel, and pennies with a potpourri garnish. Not bad, really, but pretty average. I was intrigued by the label, which stated this had Falconer's Fight hops, implying it was single-hopped with that. I'm not the biggest fan. There's a little heat that lingers.

A really sticky beer. I've been drinking for about 20 minutes now, and it's left a nice resin on my overgrown facial hair and lips. Mouthfeel is relatively light for all the times I just wrote variations of "syrup" and "sticky."

Overall, this beer's fine. I expected a bit better because it's so local and fresh, but not everything is a Pipeworks DIPA. If you're into red ales and have enjoyed Falconers Flight hopped beers in the past, don't miss this one.
