22 ounce bottle into a snifter, also on draft in a pint glass.
Pours a mostly clear dark amber, reflects red on the stem of the glass when held to the light. A one finger head with a hard pour, ring of cling remains. Smell is malt, plums, yeast, some caramel, figs, dates, a little chocolate maybe, some black pepper in the head on the pour, touch of smoke. Taste also leads with malt, then grapes, plums, caramel, some orange peel, figs, hint of cherries, a little vanilla when warm. The cranberry adds a little bitterness. Fairly smooth, body seems a little thin on the swallow.
Good example of the style, lots of flavor and a good aroma. Nothing mind blowing, but worth a try.
