Ars Memoria Red IPA

I bought a bottle of this at Binnys to share with my neighbor. It poured a clear amber with white head that left a spotty lace. The scent had hints of grapefruit and malt. The taste was not evenly balanced....definitely an initial malt presence followed by bitter citrus. The Mouthfeel was medium in body with good carbonation. Overall it's ok.

 

A dark brick red with a thick frothy head. In both aroma and taste the malt is a lot more prominent than you expect in an IPA. Although there's a clear hop presence, it is buried by a slightly spicy, slightly sweet malt flavor. The texture is incredibly thick and chewy. I really enjoyed this beer and will drink it again, but it drinks less like an IPA than a kind of strong ale.
