Mad Hatter Brewing "Hope St. Hop"
cask via handpump @ The Lion Tavern, Liverpool, England 29 March 2015
Notes: Crystal clear deep gold body beneath a fluffy white head that holds well and leaves remarkable lacing behind. The aroma is citrusy... I'm thinking Cascade... Citra... but also somewhat spicy like ground coriander (?). Golden malt base. The flavor delivers slight apple and more grainy maltiness with a hint of wheatiness. Mildly citrusy. Really nicely balanced. Refreshing and lively. Superbly balanced with a median bitterness, and nicely rounded and polished. The body is medium-light, and it's smooth across the palate. The finish brings gently lingering malt, as well as some hop, and it's overall dry. One of the best local beers I've tasted so far! Excellent, 4.0 or better.
