this year this wet hop pale features amarillo hops, the second or third such beer to feature them this year that i have found, very cool. its a pale golden colored brew with a nice white head on it from the tap, lively and active, even in a shaker pint. aroma is great, really obviously made with fresh hops, and while the malt is appropriately light, it still has some grain character to it, mildly european to me, a nice base for these hops, and offsetting some of the vegetal leafy quality i often get from wet hopped beers. fresh citrus in here, sliced oranges and lemon zest more specifically, and a light honey oily note too, not quite as tropical as amarillo sometimes is, and almost a little mosaic-esque to me in here, but very fresh and not out of balance in any way, even in a somewhat delicate extra pale ale. great carbonation, quite dry, and without very much hop bitterness at all. this is my first beer from maritime, and its an excellent and highly drinkable beer, suitable for those who want to hop on the wet hop train but arent huge ipa people. this is cool in that context for sure.
