Sleepy Puppy is not a sleepy beer as it has an array of very strong flavors, albeit some not my favorite. It starts with a brash graininess, cereal malts, wet bran and some cardboard. It then ends with a roasted, nutty and popcornish flavor. All the while there's a mix of yeast tones. I'm a bit surprised that this is Roosters flag ship beer as its not their best but it certainly is worth a try.

As a flagship ale of Rooster Brew, their Belgian intent takes the reigns as this seemingly innocent and exquisitely balanced flavor profile can be a tad more dangerous than you'd think.
Sleepy Puppy's hazy goldenrod hues release a delicate creme of foam to swirl about the rim and fills the nose with a fruity and spicy medley. As light bready and candied sweetness greets the tongue, apple, lemon and faint banana rise to give its initial taste a fruity tilt.
As the ale simply blooms across the middle, its fruity sweetness relaxes and allows its spicy balance to rival. White pepper, clove, paradise seed and citric acidity dissolves the malts as the ale crispens and dries heading into finish.
Creamy and reliant on a medium-bodied bread substrate even late, the balance remains intact as the beer exits the palate with a quick aftertaste and short linger of pleasantly grassy hops. While the ale carries a high rate of drinkability, these are way too easy to throw back- Sleepy Puppy can really sneak up on you.
