The current version at the brewery is 6.3% if I remember right.
Deep, chocolate brown with a pale tan head of wispy foam. Not a lot of cling or retention.
Aroma is rich chocolate malt, coffee and sausage smoke. Good balance and no doubt there is smoke going on - just smells a bit like it came from a bottle.
Flavor is full of more rich chocolate malt and black grain character with good sweetness balancing the smoke and chalky grain notes. Smoked aspect comes forward as it warms.
Hop bitterness is low but solid on the finish complimenting the lingering brown sugar and coffee aftertaste.

This porter is much better when allowed to warm up. At the brewery I wish they wouldn't serve it so cold.

An easy beer to drink. It is like drinking a light beer with a touch of smoke. Pours a nice dark brown with a small white head. The only odd thing about this beer is the smell...totally absent.

A: Pours a cherry cola brown with a minimal head and spotty lacing.

S: Semi-sweet bakers chocolate and a moderate vanilla. Crusty bread-a smoky dunkel.

M: Smooth body but with a tingling feel; higher carb level. Finish is light and effervescent.

T: Smoky to start and smoke to finish. Very light and flavor imparting in both respects. Filling breadiness. Chocolate accents. Definitely blends to a gooseberry reminiscent flavor--light grape--at the end. Roast quality is present. Minimal sweetness. Drinkable and enjoyable.
