Balsam Mountain is a "Midwestern IPA", coming in at 6.9 ABV. It's West Coast-ish while leaning a bit more British. It pours a nice clear light amber with a thick off white head. It’s mid bodied with notes of resin, grapefruit, fresh cut grass, and toasted grain. A nice bitterness with a rich malt presence. It has floral and citrusy aromas with a touch of toasted grain. It contains exclusively Michigan hops.

A: The beer is clear amber in color and has a light to moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high off white head that quickly settled down, leaving a narrow collar around the edge and a thin film of bubbles covering the surface.
S: Moderate aromas of biscuit and toasted malts are present in the nose along with hints of pine resin.
T: The taste follows the smell and is rather malty, except that the flavors of pine resin hops are a little stronger and are most noticeable towards the finish. There is a light amount of associated bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and a bit crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This IPA has a lot of malty aromas and flavors but there's a good amount of underlying hops to help prevent this from being a malt bomb and help its drinkability. It is definitely a unique blend of IPA styles.
