L- Jet black, not a photon gets through it even held right in front of a halogen. Pours with 2mm that fades fast, no surprise up at this ABV.
S- Big coffee and cocoa, plus a light hint of smoke?
T- Go....eeesh! ... ... I'm still wincing. This is one of the most nakedly, pungently, blunt tasting beers I think I have EVER had. It's... like head-long in to stark deep black coffee and then you move through a stage that's quite 'very dry white wine' like, to surface with a heavy dry lick on your palate in it's tail that leaves a sour note.
F- Unusual and unexpected. Big, intense, pungent. This beer is to make a statement, almost a challenge, I do not think valuing a sense of balance or harmony figured for the writers of the recipe.
O- But don't get me wrong, this beer is so left-field that it's simply not for me. Others with more esoteric tastes will find something really very different here, and I hope they enjoy it.
250ml bottle bought from TremblingMadness/York-UK for home delivery to London. £4.99 BB 07/2025
ps. neck lable describes it having been aged in port-barrels; that explains a good part of it's profile.
