In Akron and craving something malty. This is the first locally brewed Scotch ale I've come across in a long while, since they are apparently illegal to brew in New England.

Pours pretty, standard for the style. Very dark reddish brown with a small and wispy white head signaling its high ABV.

Smells sweet, smooth, very malty with no alcohol burn or bock zip. Kind of one dimensional, but the subdued character is probably intentional and works well ft the style.

Tastes great! Very lightly hopped, maybe a bit sweet for a Scotch, but smooth and interesting throughout. Starts with brown malt, growing nuttier and sweeter as the beer progresses. Finished with just a wee little bit of hoppy dryness. Real good. Avoids all the off nodes of lesser scotch ales.
