32oz growler filled at Heinen's in Mentor, Ohio
Growler poured into a tulip. Pours a dark hazy auburn with an off-white/light tan head that slowly fades leaving very nice retention and decent lacing. The aromas are full of sweet caramel malts. Some dark fruits in the mix. Slightly floral. Subtle hints of pine. The flavors follow the nose. The malts shine, but there's still a solid hop bite going on. Solid bitterness. Bittersweet. Lots of caramel. Hints of raisins in the mix. More hints of pine. There are some citrus notes in the mix as well. Alcohol goes unnoticed. Mouthfeel is on the lighter side of full-bodied with moderate carbonation. It's very smooth and easy to drink. Dangerously drinkable.
This is a solid brew. It has all of the classic characteristics that you'd expect from a "hoppy red ale". Enjoyable stuff. Well done, I like it.
