Poured from a 12 oz can with no date
It is a very dark, copper gold. Produced a very substantial frothy, cream colored head even with a moderate pour. Great retention. Still a nickel thick film with some lacing half way through.
Smells kind of odd. Not bad, but different. A lot of mosaic hops. Definite floral notes. A touch of pine. Also a pink gum, some citrus, and very sweet, rich, syrupy malted grains.
Tastes a lot better than it smells for me. It is pretty much as sweet as it smells, but that bubble gum flavor works pretty well against some spicey than anticipated hops. Actually, it may be yeast bite. Either way, it breaks things up a bit. A little bit of bitterness on the back end, but early and often it is fairly sweet. Pineapple and a bit of lemon rind, with bready/doughy malts as a backdrop. It almost tastes like bananas after awhile
Body is medium and soft. Overall I enjoyed this. Technically speaking it is not a great ipa, but it is a unique beer. Maybe a little heavy for the abv level, and the borderline hefe qualities throw you off, but it is certainly drinkable and enjoyable enough
