A thanks to the prince of pale ales, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a dark golden color with a 1 inch head. Smell is of citrus, tropical fruits. Taste is grapefruit, tropical fruits, malts making their presence felt, easy drinking. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a solid beer.

It is the occasion of New Beer Sunday (Week 655), which CANincides with NFL football's opening weekend for the season. My beloved Stillers are visiting the hated Kleveland Klowns & I wanted to drink something appropriate to mark the ocCANsion. We recently began getting distro of Platform Beer Co.'s CANs & since I am a CANnoiseur & not a CANnibal, instead of drinking their blood, I will be drinking their fermented malt-based beverages from a CANtainer formed from aluminum in a cylindrical form. Viva The CANQuest (tm)! Here we go, Stillers, here we go!

From the CAN: "Malts: 2 Row, CaraMunich Type 1, Honey Malt, Acidulated, Crystal 77 Hops: Galena, Idaho Experimental No. 7 Yeast: American Ale".

No fancy tricks with this one. I Crack!ed it open to get some light foaming through the vent, thanks to its being a brimful craft CAN. I allowed it to settle before beginning a very gentle Glug into the awaiting glass. Color was solidly Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9) with NE-quality clarity. An in-glass swirl raised two fingers of dense, rocky, foamy, eggshell-white head with good retention. Nose was a curious admixture of minty pine & sweet tropical fruits. It kind of put me in mind of some DIPAs that I have drank. Mmm. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was very fruity, tropical fruity, like one of those Dole Tropical Fruit cups that I like to put in my lunch kit as a day-to-day substitute teacher. The fruitiness overlay a light mintiness which was shored up by a crisp malty backbone. Man, this was deelish! The relatively low ABV made it just that much more drinkable & soon, I had drank off a quarter of it without a seCANd thought. Finish CANtinued to be fruity, but I would be incorrect if I characterized it as anything but semi-dry. It was not so fruity as to dip into the "sweet" realm & I do not want to oversell its fruitiness. The various malts were doing their job to keep things on an even keel. This was quite enjoyable & deserves to be tried in its limited release.

Pours a nice medium gold with some amber highlights and two fingers of fluffy white head. Smell is mostly sweet tropical fruit and a bit of fresh cut grass.

Taste follows the nose closely. Some mango, pineapple, grapefruit, and lemon zest. Slightly bitter pine and grass notes as well. There's an underlying sweet malt base that never detracts from the hop flavors. Everything is rather subtle and meshes incredibly well. Body is on the lighter side--crisp with lively carbonation. Very refreshing.

Having been at Platform recently, and previously trying several of their offerings, I was expecting this to be a solid pale ale. It was much more than that. One of the best pales I've tried in a while. I hope they continue to can this.

From a 6/2/17 dated 12oz can

It is a very clear, deep burnt orange to copper color with a foamy cream colored head that leaves some sticky residue.

It smells like honey and caramel malts, passion fruit, grapefruit, and earthy/musty hops.

Tastes pretty much the same. A strong honey sweet malt base that is reminiscent of Hopslam with a good amount of mandarin orange and red grapefruit that give it a pretty passion fruit like sweet citrus flavor up front. Plenty of bitter hops and a citrusy grapefruit on the back end. Somewhat raw/earthy. Almost tastes like a citra hopped beer.

Solid medium body. Smooth, with just the right amount of carbonation. Crisp clean finish. Not heavy/malty.

A great beer with some interesting flavor combinations
