Also had this one during the August 2017 camping trip to Oregon with the fam and elrogish.

Pours a dark golden/light amber without much clarity to it. Made a thin 1/3" white head. Aroma was light on the watermelon as it should, salted watermelon and wheat, even better.

Taste was good, nothing too fancy, the watermelon and salt pair nicely, otherwise, its standard gose territory with a moderate salinity factor, nice sour mash wheat smack, appropriate carbonation and ability to put a good amount of flavor into an easily crushable low abv session kind of beer. Good crisp finish to it. Getting watermelon without a feeling of being watery in a low abv beer is a nice deft touch of hand, tip of the cap to the brewer. Sourness is a 4.5/10 on the gose scale. Its pretty good stuff, but I think its a class below Westbrook and Anderson Valley's gose offerings.

Can't say I got too much watermelon but it was still a very tasty gose perfect balance of tart with a crisp salty finish. A couple of pounders of these would sure make for a most excellent after dinner treat in my opinion

16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 7/10/2017. Pours lightly hazy pale golden yellow color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of juicy watermelon, tart lemon, lime, peach, pear, red/green apple, sea salt, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, herbal, grass, light lacto funk/pepper, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of watermelon, fruity/acidic yeast, sea salt, and pale malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of juicy watermelon, tart lemon, lime, peach, pear, red/green apple, sea salt, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, herbal, grass, light lacto funk/pepper, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tartness; light fruit tang, bitterness, and peppery spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of watermelon, tart lemon, lime, peach, pear, red/green apple, sea salt, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, herbal, grass, light lacto funk/pepper, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of watermelon, fruity/acidic yeast, sea salt, and pale malt flavors; with a great malt/tartness balance, and zero puckering/astringent flavors after the finish. Moderately crisp/clean finishing. Moderate increasing dryness from tart/tangy/spiciness. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy, fairly acidic/sticky/tangy, and lightly saline balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.2%. Overall this is a delicious gose. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of watermelon, fruity/acidic yeast, sea salt, and pale malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink; with the mellowly acidic/tangy finish. Not as acidic as I expected, but definitely adequate. Very flavorful and never watery for the ABV. Authentic watermelon flavors with balanced Lacto fruitiness; nice bready pale/wheat/Vienna malt backbone, and not overly salty. No Jolly ranchers or cucumber notes from the watermelon, which I really liked. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

-Duvel globe. Watermelon, salty, tart.

A: A pale orange has a medium dense nature of macro-carbonation bubbles rushing to the surface in a quick fashion. The head is a dull linen white with a slight size and weakly holding posture. The vessel remains clear after the collapse of the head.

S: Salted watermelon aroma was very light in strength. Fruity melon, a faint touch of sour fruit on the finish. Short lived. Not much else going on, shame, I would of enjoyed some more watermelon content.

T: The flavor was sour watermelon with a fairly sharp tone on the first sip. Sour green melon/apple and sea salt add highlights. The drink was on the cleaner side, crisp, but still very light in nature as was the nose. The saaz hops add a small spicy twang to compliment the sour spiciness. The backbone, much like thier smokin fineapple, was pilsner and wheat, lending to a clean and crisp palate, light, and wheaty, allowing the soft sourness to have some distinguishing voice.

M: The mouthful started crisp, but fizzles out rather quickly with a limp carbonation feel shortly there-after. Clean and crisp palate, lightly oily feel and body still offers a bit above average regards.

O: Big initial burst of sour watermelon started a good first impression, dips somewhat slightly after several sips becoming less noteworthy. The lasting impression was only moderately entertaining, failing to live up to the first sip, and became somewhat mundane through-out. Easy drink-ability, low kettle souring (I happen to like the watermelon aspect and wished there was a bit more). Props for some outside the box adjuncts, the watermelon. Single serving recommendation for fans of style, those unfamiliar may be left a bit underwhelmed. While an easy entry to get familiar with per style, it probably wont do much to entice or strengthen ones curiosity to follow up and seek others.

Poured out of a 16 oz. can into a stange glass, this beer pours a slightly cloudy/hazy, but mainly clear, pale, medium golden color with a white head that is initially well over an inch thick when first poured. Head makes a sizzling sound like the head of a soda pop does when you pour it into a glass. Head dissipates pretty quickly to a thin to medium sized ring lining the inside of the glass with practically zero lacing to speak of. Aromas of some bready malts, watermelon and a pungent tartness with just a hint of astringent barnyard funk. Flavors of bready malts, watermelon, tart and just slightly funky saltiness with a nice sour hint. No discernible hop presence in the flavor profile here, which is not at all uncommon for this beer style. one of the saltier Goses I've had, and that works very well here I feel. Has a fairly crisp, slightly prickly, yet also smooth and somewhat frothy, light to medium bodied mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Has a very clean finish with a pretty dry aftertaste. Easy to drink in the way good, well crafted beer ought to be.

Welcome (back) to #WatermelonWednesday my attempt to drink & review a watermelon-based beverage of some stripe each & every Wednesday. I am not always successful on my end, nor is this a site-sanctioned event, but it bumps the hump!

From the CAN: "Malts: Pilsner, Pale Wheat, Vienna, Wheat Flakes Hops: Saaz Yeast: American Ale Adjuncts: Watermelon, Natural Sea Salt"; "Watermelon*Salty*Tart"; "12 Kettle Series"; "The Series[:] 12 Kettle Sours 12 Releases 12 Months"; "Fresh CLE Beer".

I Crack!ed the CAN open & having decided that it was both a wheat-driven beer as well as a cause for CANebration, I chose to be daring & give it an inverted Glug despite its 16-fl. oz. serving size. The head rushed up to form just under two fingers of foamy, bone-white head with very limited retention that quickly fell to mere wisps. Color was a deeply-hazy/lightly-cloudy Yellow-Gold (SRM = 4 - 5). Nose had notes of both sea salt & watermelon! Doubt me? Remember, I am a retired US Navy sailor who lived on the scents of coffee & sea salt, often simultaneously. Sea salt has a different quality than standard iodized salt, which is why I prefer the former over the latter. Mouthfeel was medium to full, big for the style. The watermelon taste was ... not subtle, but shy, hidden behind the immenseness of King Neptune's presence. Oh, yes. I am a duly initiated Shellback, Plankowner, Order of the Ditch (Suez) & Blue Nose, in that order. I bow to Poseidon with great reverence. He does not give up his precious salt willy-nilly & it should be acCANdingly respected. The taste was, overall, lightly tart, but very pleasant & refreshing. The finish was dry, mainly due to the saltiness. but very quaffable.

I do not taste much watermelon and it is to salty for me. It is quite refreshing though and does not have a bad taste, just not what I was expecting.
