This is part of the CANtinuation of my (Un?)Happy New Jumping Off of the New Platform Beer Sunday (Week 755)! I have been redding up my house during my CANvalescence from surgery & putting together a number of brewery horizontals in doing so. I had planned, even before its announcement about its sale to A-B/InBev, to drink a buncha beers & a seltzer from Kleveland's Platform Beer Co. for this week's NBS. I was disheartened to hear of the news, especially having read the GI story. I am not one to boycott a beer due to their acquisition by a large corporation, but it did take some of the wind out of my sails.
From the CAN: "Small Batch IPA Series"; "Grains[:] 2 Row[,] Pale Wheat[,] Crystal 15[,] Golden Flaked Oats[,] Hops[:] Galena[,] Chinook[,] Amarillo[,] Cascade[,] Comet[,] Yeast[:] Voss Kviek[,] Adjunct[:] Flaked Oats[,] Plato[:] 17[,] IBU[:] 55"; "Ohio Craft Beer".
I Crack!ed open the vent & although the grain bill involved wheat & it was supposed to be a hazy NEIPA, I decided to go with a slow, gentle C-Line Glug just to see what I might get. It foamed pretty steadily, eventually forming just over two fingers of dense, foamy, rocky head that threatened to overflow the lip of the glass. At that point, I stopped my Glug! It slowly fell back, leaving a load of sticky lacing in its wake. Color was a slightly-hazy solid-Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9). They nailed it on the nose with their mention of orange marmalade! Ed Zachary! Mmm. Mouthfeel was medium, but a solid medium, bordering on full. The taste was very much of orange, tangerine & just a hint of pine. Mmm. Finish was dry, quite hoppy & a really pleasant kick-off to today's action. YMMV.

Completely opaque orange with an amber tint. Creamy foam, halo of drippy lacing, lasting coverage.
Aroma is big on citrus, juicy overripe oranges.
Grapefruit and sour orange flavors, bittersweet at first with a firmly bitter aftertaste.
Medium bodied and smooth feel, though a little bit astringent.
Overall this was a nice beer to try. Thanks to Tom for sharing this one!

I got a six of this from my local Meijer. It poured a hazy orangish with white head that is leaving a spotty lace. The scent had hints of citrus peel. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with citrus peel presence. The mouthfeel is lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall its a solid beer.

4/20/18 canning puts this a bit older than I'd like for a first time IPA, but I figure the 7.5% abv and the can afford it some leeway... Features 2-Row, pale wheat, Crystal 15, and Golden Naked oats; Galena, Chinook, Amarillo, Cascade, and Comet hops; Voss Kviek yeast; flaked oats are listed as an adjunct...
Murky golden orange colored body, opaque, under a fat white head that trailed sloppy lace behind... A rugged character, with plenty of earthy, dank, and chewy impressions, as well as suggestions of fleshy pale orchard and tropical fruits - but the sugars are very mild - it comes across more grainy and husky, with some dank herbal undercurrents presenting nice shellac across the palate. Very compelling blend of rustic grains and plush body... Soft and smooth...
I was a little on the fence at first, as it has a distinct and rather unique flavor profile, but as I continued to drink and consider its characteristics, I really enjoyed it...
