A thanks to the commander of the canquest, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. This beer came gushing out quickly, resulting in a hazy, dark golden color with several inches of head. Smell is of tropical fruits, pineapple stands out. Taste is of pineapple, orange peels, light pine, moderate bitterness. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a solid beer.

This is part of the CANtinuation of my (Un?)Happy New Jumping Off of the New Platform Beer Sunday (Week 755)! I have been redding up my house during my CANvalescence from surgery & putting together a number of brewery horizontals in doing so. I had planned, even before its announcement about its sale to A-B/InBev, to drink a buncha beers & a seltzer from Kleveland's Platform Beer Co. for this week's NBS. I was disheartened to hear of the news, especially having read the GI story. I am not one to boycott a beer due to their acquisition by a large corporation, but it did take some of the wind out of my sails.
From the CAN: "Small Batch IPA Series"; "Grains[:] 2 Row[,] Caramalt 15[,] Hops[:] Amarillo[,] Calypso[,] Comet[,] Centennial[,] Eukanot[,] Yeast[:] Voss Viek[,] Adjuncts[:] Wheat Malt[,] Golden Naked Oats[,] Flaked Oats[,] Style[:] NEIPA[,] Plato[:] 17.5[,] IBU[:] 49"; "Ohio Craft Beer".
At this point, I have decided that if they identify it as "Hazy IPA/NEIPA" on the CAN, then I am proceeding acCANdingly with a hard Glug. First, though, I needed to Crack! open the vent in order to get things started. I beCAN by letting it free-flow until the foaming action got to be a bit much, forcing me to back down & off. Once again, I wound up with two-plus fingers of foamy, soapy, rocky, tawny head with decent retention. It was like we had done this before! Color was a cloudy Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9). Nose smelled of orange & mango & I got a distinct sense of deja vu! I actually have to say that I am impressed. They made subtle variations in each one of these, but I CAN guarantee that I would not have caught on had I not done this vertical! Mouthfeel was medium. Here, the taste was quite sweet, mostly tropical with mango, papaya, guava & pineapple, but the orange/tangerine never abated. It was more aligned to the style, but less what I really like. Finish was semi-dry, very juicy, very fruity & very tasty. Jeez-O, man, I really hope that they do not come to regret their decision. YMMV.

A: hazy; deep gold in color; 3 finger off white head that receded to a thin cap; nice, thick, rings of lace; while I was writing notes about the appearance and smell, the head kept building to 5 fingers - tightly pored and well over the top of the glass;
S: floral and citrus, but with a sour milk vibe in the background;
T: follows the nose through the middle; finish is pineapple with a bit of coconut; the sour milk character was still there, but not as prominent;
M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation (in spite of the massive head); lightly dry finish;
O: except for the sour milk aspect, this was interesting;

I got a 6pck of this at my local meijer. It poured a hazy orangish with white head that is leaving a spotty lace. The scent had tropical fruit peel notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with tropical fruit start and bitter citrus finish. The mouthfeel was medium in body with good carbonation. Overall its a solid beer.

A: The beer is very hazy to cloudy yellow in color. It poured with a two finger high off white head that died down, leaving a thick pillow-like head covering the surface and lots of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Light aromas of tropical fruit hops are present in the nose along with hints of caramel malts.
T: The taste follows the smell and has flavors of pineapples along hints of spicy hops and slight bits of citrus. There is a light to moderate amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation. No crispness is detectable.
O: The taste of this beer has an interesting contrast of tropical fruits and spicy hops.

I should stop being suprised by this Brewer. Their product consistently creates wonderment and happiness upon my palett. Never lacking in quality and delightful flavors, this beverage meets the high standards I have come to expect from the good folks at Platform.
