This is part of the CANtinuation of my (Un?)Happy New Jumping Off of the New Platform Beer Sunday (Week 755)! I have been redding up my house during my CANvalescence from surgery & putting together a number of brewery horizontals in doing so. I had planned, even before its announcement about its sale to A-B/InBev, to drink a buncha beers & a seltzer from Kleveland's Platform Beer Co. for this week's NBS. I was disheartened to hear of the news, especially having read the GI story. I am not one to boycott a beer due to their acquisition by a large corporation, but it did take some of the wind out of my sails.
From the CAN: "Small Batch IPA Series"; "Grains[:] 2 Row[,] White Wheat[,] Malted Oats[,] Caramalt[,] Hops[:] Citra[,] Chinook[,] Yeast[:] Voss Viek[,] Adjunct[:] Flaked Oats[,] Style[:] New England[,] Plato[:] 17[,] IBU[:] 33"; "Ohio Craft Beer".
I had drank this one on-tap at one point & its picture did not look all that hazy so upon Crack!ing the vent on this one, I decided to go for clarity. It beCAN with a slow, gentle C-Line Glug into the awaiting glass, ending when the foaming became too much to handle. It settled into just under two fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, tawny head with decent retention, leaving nice lacing in its wake. Color was an oh-so-slightly-hazy Amber to Deep-Amber/Light-Copper (SRM = > 9, < 13). Nose had a lightly musty pineapple-grapefruit quality. Hmm. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was an odd mélange of mustiness along with pineapple, mango, papaya & a healthy dose of grapefruit whose bitterness offset the tropical fruit flavors. Interesting. Finish was more towards bitter, slightly tart & definitely dry. This was a pretty decent offering from them as I run through my backlog. It further saddens me that they went for the takeover. YMMV.

I usually don't like farmhouse yeast beers, but I liked this. Not too sour. Interesting and unique flavor. I'm guessing that the chinook hops were predominantly (or entirely) the bittering hops, since I couldn't detect their flavor.
Definitely worth trying, but not something that I would drink all night.

A: The beer is rather hazy yellow in color and poured with a short bright white head.
S: Light to moderate aromas of lemony hops are present in the nose along with hints of grapefruit.
T: The taste has flavors of lemongrass along with hints of grapefruit citrus and a light amount of bitterness. The lemongrass isn't nearly as noticeable as the beer warms up and there is more in he way of citrus.
M: It feels medium-bodied and a little crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer seems to be one that is easy to drink. I liked the flavors of grapefruit hops.

Uninteresting in appearance and nose, but great in taste and feel. I think this Brewer has a series of smaller batch and fun IPAs....found this on tap locally..thumbs up

L: I might describe the look as viscous—golden orange at the edges, but almost red when looking into the center from the side; head dissolves quickly; little lacing
S: Stubbornly tropical; grapefruit, orange
T: Fairly straightforward—some combination of grapefruit, oranges and pineapple; immediately bitter
O: A perfectly fine beer; wished the taste was a bit more distinguished

I got a 6pck of this from my local meijer. It poured a smoothy orangish with thin white head that is not leaving much lace. The scent had tropical fruit notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with fruit smoothie flare. The mouthfeel is medium in body with good carbonation. Overall its a solid beer.
