From the 12 oz bottle in a snifter. This beefy desert brew pours a
rugged pitch black with a nice head of brown foam that settles
to a thick ring, thin layer, and shows some rather nice lacing.
Nose shows notes of cocoa, raspberry, a hint of cinnamon,
and sweet roasted malts. Flavors surpass the nose with
cream touched raspberry and dark cocoa with bitter
malt and moderate coffee elements with dark brown
sugars and touches of black strap with a light herbal
note on the back with warming booze. Nice mouth
feel; full body, smooth, slick, warming, light carbonation
verging on medium light, and a rich and moderately
bitter malt forward finish that is lightly dry.
Overall, more excellence from the Platform folk
from my native home.
Cheers

Canned on 1/8/19. 12oz can poured into a tulip. Pours almost black with a creamy dark khaki head that falls leaving nice retention and lacing. The aromas have some subtle hints of cocoa, raspberries and vanilla. Some flowers and floral notes. Malts are there. The flavors basically follow the nose. More raspberry, cocoa and vanilla. Some milk chocolate. It's slightly sweet, but it's not cloying or over the top. Nice malt backbone. Mild warmth in the finish, but the alcohol is ultimately well hidden. Mouthfeel is full-bodied with moderate. It's light, very fluffy and dangerously drinkable.
This is a pretty solid stout. The raspberries, vanilla and cocoa all come through in an enjoyable balanced way. It's enjoyable and fun to drink. Well done.
