Having this beer on-tap at the brewery. Served in a snifter, this beer draws a pretty dark, clear copper color with a slightly off-white head that’s about half an inch thick when first drawn and served. Head settles to a medium sized ring lining the inside of the glass along with bits of lacing. Aromas of some bready, caramel malt sweetness along with strong notes of some plum and fig in addition to Belgian candy sugar. The taste is very similar, with bready, toasted caramel malt sweetness along with strong notes of some plum and fig with the addition of Belgian candy sugar for more sweetness. Rounded out with some earthy hops that add more hop bitterness than is commonplace for this style I feel. Very good flavor profile overall. Has a crisp, slightly chewy and sticky, somehow also fairly smooth. medium bodied mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Has a nice, sweet aftertaste. A very nice beer all around.
