Welcome back to my Happy New I'm CANming Dahn Offa the Platform to Drink a Beer of My Own Free Will This Sunday (Week 764)! I have been diddling with Platform BC since Week 755 (8=O) & I am ready to finally put Kleveland in my rear-view. This is not animosity towards them for having been purchased by a larger CANcern, but simply a) I am tired of week after week of Platform beers & b) as a Pixburgh sports fan for over 45 years, I have NO love of Kleveland. Sorry.
And now, a CANundrum, of course. I usually try to ramp up from low- to high-ABV in these brewery horizontals, but the next in the queue is a salted caramel Stout or some such. That has its time & place, but when I am knee-deep in AIPAs, I CAN see skipping its place in line. I know, I'm gonna take flak for this, but to do otherwise would be CANsensical.
From the CAN: "Small Batch IPA Series"; "Grains[:] 2-Row[,] White Wheat[,] Malted Oats[,] CaraMalt[,] Hops[:] Calypso[,] Mosaic Cryo[,] Yeast[:] Voss Kviek[,] Hazy IPA[,] Plato[:] 17[,] IBU[:] 25"; "Ohio Craft Beer".
Ooh, I am closing in on the finish line. This is actually the penultimate CANultimate!
Having taken my last draught of the previous Stout & having my glassware ready to go, I CANtinued with the Crack! of the vent & its subsequent Glug. Man, did this one ever want to foam! I wound up with three-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, eggshell-white head with excellent retention, throwing the brakes on until it reluctantly fell. Hazy? Color was a murky, turbid Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9). 8=O Nose smelled like a mango-papaya smoothie! 8=O I like mango-papaya smoothies. Yum. Mouthfeel was medium. Man, the taste was intense, VERY much of mango & papaya, but also a lot more bitter than their measured 25 IBUs. Phew! Was it hopped to the point of saturation (& beyond)? I CANnot get behind something like this. It was like heartburn waiting to happen. Finish was dry, but far too bitter to be enjoyable. YMMV.

A - Pours a dark gold-bronze, translucent but not at all transparent, with moderate white head that fades to a persistent cap, and lacing that lines the glass with ropes of small bubbles.
S - A lush tropical hit, slightly under-ripe mango, with pine and a citrus zest note riding over the tropical core.
T - Flavors head toward stone fruit, peach in particular, and a softly bitter finish.
M - Brisk carbonation combines with a softer, fuller touch as the prickliness fades. A dry close, and a bit crunchy with resin that builds with time.
O - A solid IPA, with NE aspects, and a solid flavor profile that is satisfying. Quite tasty.

I got a 6pck of this from my local meijer. It poured a hazy orangish with white head that is leaving a nice lace. The scent had grapefruit citrus presence. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with tropical fruit notes. The mouthfeel was medium in body with good carbonation. Overall its a solid beer.

This is part of their "Small Batch IPA Series". 12oz can poured into a tulip. Pours a hazy, cloudy and murky yellowish orange; white head that falls leaving nice retention and lacing. It looks just like orange juice. The aromas have a nice amount tropical fruits along with some hints of citrus. Mild hints of cracker. Malts are there. The flavors follow the nose. Some pineapple, orange and grapefruit. Nice fruit juice vibe. Some fresh grass. Solid bitterness for the style. Malts do their thing. Finishes juicy. Alcohol basically goes unnoticed. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied with active carbonation. It's sharp, slick and ultimately smooth.
This is a nice "New England IPA". Nice aromas and flavors. It's more or less what you would expect from the style. The craftsmanship is on point. Well done.
