16 ounce can, canning date is smudged but I can tell it was canned sometime in 2020. Thanks to Brutaltruth for this one! Served in a snifter, the beer pours a cloudy burnt orange/brown color with not quite an inch light tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good. I like the aroma, it's a bit sweet and smells like cognac, rye, oak, vanilla, dark fruit and some herbalness. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also some caramel, raisin and stone fruit flavors. No one flavor really stands out here, everything seems to work well together. It's sweeter tasting but not close to being overpowering. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's a bit slick with a low/moderate amount of carbonation. I thought it was a good overall cognac barrel aged brew, worth a try if you get the chance!

From the 16oz can in a snifter. This solid little brew
pours a murky brown with a nice head of off white
foam that sizzles to a thin ring, thin faint layer, and
sports some light lacing. Nose of cognac, oak, vanilla,
spicy rye, caramel, and pine / herbal hops. Flavors hit
the note with pine hops dancing about vinous cognac
with oak, leather, caramel, and herbal hops with touches
of vanilla, and warming booze. Nice mouth feel; medium
body, smooth, warming, light carbonation, lightly coating,
and finishing warm and lightly dry.
Overall, a fantastic brew in flavor----just ain't pretty to
look at.
Cheers

Aged in cognac barrels.
This is not a pretty beer. It's a dark, muddy brown with lots of floating particulate. Not to worry, going to enjoy this one in the dark.
On the sweet side but there are enough layers here to keep it from being one dimensional. Brown sugar and raisin come to mind first. The cognac is subtle but satisfying. The woody tingle and gentle, floral alcoholic heat at the finish helps blunt the sweetness a bit. This is a bit on the still side. Worth trying for sure.
