For some reason Rhinegeist isn't making Mathlete anymore... So (bias warning) I'm settling for this and not happy about it.

L: Darker shade of straw yellow. Hazy (gotta get flavor where you can). Glossy surface. So far so good.

S: Juicy. Reminds me of Motts Apple juice. It's probably a fruit concentrate with hop extract.

T: The hops are okay. There is random bitter hop extract that feels added in and then another hop that actually does taste like a plant. I'm reading now that peach was used as a flavoring, and I feel that is superfluous. Either use puree or just don't. I can definitely taste the vienna and oat malt. The barley is hidden well underneath the honey malt. I appreciate a can that labels their ingredients, it helps me identify flavors. The water quality is good as well--But I will not and can not say good things about concentrates and extracts.

F: Light with a mostly dry finish. The hop extract tarnishes what would otherwise be a crisp and refreshing beverage.

O: There sure are plenty of LED lights, marketing, and force distribution (10 different Platform brews anyone?) pointing towards the product. That's what it feels like to me. I wanted a beer and got a product instead. It's missing the mark. The labeling says 98 calories and GYMDAY. Gyms are synonymous with health. What I'm saying is there is a major failure to deliver value. By using cheap extract instead of fresh hops which are actually healthy for you.

Yes, many calories and a high alcohol content can be harmful for you. They did good by lowering that. Then they blew their opportunity to give you a real IPA with health benefits. Not just the hops to lower your blood pressure, but vitamin A and C from the peaches, which you need when you are drinking lots. They are so quick to jump at the chance to use lights and advertising to to misdirect and deceive you for profit--They are hurting the beer industry as a whole by turning people off of IPA forever, because they say they want something good and instead get... this. Look at the statistics. I'm right. It's unfortunate for Platform that they've sullied their brand after investing so much into merchandise, but not for us beer drinkers.

Actually bought this beer by "accident" ... I got excited when I saw a new beer I had not tried from this Brewer and just grabbed it...Normally I would not pick up a low ABV IPA (especially in the winter time) ... Rarely am I able to find one that is to my liking as I prefer full flavor ... That said, this is pretty darn good ... I'll remember this one come summertime

Poured into a nonic pint glass. Purchased from Kroger for $11.99 as a six-pack of cans.

L - Hazy straw gold. One-finger cream-colored head.
S - Grapefruit, peach, bananas, and cantaloupe. Very hoppy smell.
T - Surprisingly complex flavor. Peach and grapefruit are the stars at the start, and slowly grows to a chewy malty breadiness. Melon and honey coat your mouth, and leave a familiar bitter bite. Oats, toasted biscuit, and peach skin are the sort of "muscle" of this beer.
F - Light carbonation. Refreshing, crisp, and chewy.
O - As someone from WNC, I'm typically burnt-out from all the IPAs out there that go out of their way to be hipster-targeting hop bombs. This beer is a definite change in pace, and really stands out to me as a refreshing day-drinker. An unlikely balance from the malts selected make this an easy-drinker, and a respectable beer of the style. I'm surprised to see this in stores in the winter, as this is definitely a warm-weather beer. This is now my favorite IPA. Highly recommend.
