The processing of high-quality malt from own barley cultivation, exquisite hops qualities and fresh spring brewing water from the nature reserve Sieseberg give this noble Pils a special freshness and its round, fine-dry taste. For over 315 years, the Schloßbrauerei Rheder is owned by the barons of Spiegel and Mengersen. It is located in the outer bailey of Rheder Castle. In 1830, the brewery was expanded for the first time and converted into a steam brewery based on the Bavarian model. Now, the lower-fermented beer, which is easier to store and transport, can be brewed.

Poured from can into Tulip, good 3 finger cream colored head, excellent retention and lacing. Bright yellowish/gold in the glass, crystal clear to look at. Smells of cracker, grassy noble hops, and some sulfur after initially poured and it dissipates shortly thereafter. Taste follows nose, bready malt, grassy, spicy hops, tad sweet in the middle, but it has a good firm bitterness that reigns it back in. Not a bad pils, wouldn't kick it out of bed.

Gold in color with a light sedimentary haze. There’s a three quarter inch of densely packed off white on top. It quickly fades to a quarter inch. The aroma is of well water and light grains. I’m tasting well water and light grains. The mouth is light and easygoing.

Day 22 of the 2021 Costco Beer Advent Calendar. Poured from a can into a pint glass. Pours light yellow orange with a small white head. Smells of sweet grain, inviting for the style. Tastes of sweet grain, bright barley, nice and crisp. Beer is light bodied and easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, a very good beer.

Look - 22nd beer of the 2021 Costco Advent Calendar. Poured into a standard pint glass. Golden in color, clear but has some suspended particles, and a huge frothy head that mostly dissipates, leaving behind moderate lacing.
Smell - toasted biscuits with some light spicy hops complemented by a little sweetness.
Taste - hearty roasted malt flavors accompanied by a very healthy dose of hops, resulting in moderately high bitterness. bitterness actually lingers on the tongue for quite some time. finish is grassy, more similar to a Czech pilsner.
Feel - light bodied, average carbonation, and on the lower end for ABV at 4.7%.
Overall - an extra hoppy pilsner that showcases toasted malt flavors and a bit less sweet than some of its counterparts.

Light malt with all the bitter and skunky-ness of a pilsner. Sweet and rather clean finish. Enjoyable. Prost!

Light amber color with a 1" head that is very thick.
Nice malty bread aroma with sweet spicey hop notes.
Malty bread taste balanced with spicey, peppery hops.
Thick lacing remains on the glass.
Has a medium mouth feel that finishes with a dry peppery hop taste.
Great example of a Pils

a: clear straw yellow. some amber notes in here as well. pours a 3 finger solid white head. looks like you could rest a coin on it
s: nice aroma on this. straw, grass, lemongrass, and lager spice. Noble hops, sweet grains, and some pepper spice. sweet bready crackery backbone
t: sweet grains, crusty bread, and some Noble hop bitterness upfront. lemongrass, hay, and a hint of malts. nice lager spice to make it crisp and refreshing. something slightly metallic at the end
m: lighter medium mouthfeel with medium carbonation
o: serviceable Pilsner. it lacks some of the crispness and vibrance of the great ones, but it's still easy to drink quickly

Picked up as part of the Advent 24-pack from the Greenville, SC Costco on 10-9-21 for $59.99. Expires 2023/05; consumed 12-27-21.
Beer poured golden with a smaller but long-lasting white head.
Nose is of white bread and a faint touch of noble hops.
Taste is a lighter malt base that has a touch of white bread in which earthy hops provide a little balancing to the sweet hops but still finishes slightly sweeter than it should for the style.
Mouthfeel is heavier than expected, medium bodied and sort of smooth and refreshing.
Overall not a bad beer, as it is a nice beer to help recalibrate the palate after heavier and more flavorful beers.

A very unique pilsner highly regarded in its home region, very individual with some early and late sippy pinches, not too hoppy though, from the 2021 Kalea Beer Advent calendar
