Bottle picked up at the brewpub for an okay $10.50/22.. Enjoyed tonight with Jeremy, Matt and Silas while talking about how to take over the beer world... Poured into my standard Basque wine glass... The beer is slightly hazed orange with a definite pinkish tinge I would guess is coming from the wine barrels. A bit of oak and wine presence works with the malt to mute the hops a little... Interesting... Not sure oak and IPA work, but not bad. With warmth, the beer opened up a bit and the oak/wine barrel subsided and allowed the hops to bloom a bit more. I am surprisingly happy with this one, barrel aging never really works with big hoppy beers, but this aging didn't hurt things too much and instead added a good dimension of complexity. That said, I would still vote for not barrel aging hoppy beers.
