Clear dark brown with plenty of foam in the snifter. Modest aroma of roasted grain with a cocoa nose. Slight sweetness of burnt sugar but more charred grain. This starts out really good-- rich with dark bitter chocolate but with an increasing hoppy bite. It's actually quite bitter, which reduces the sippability. Interesting but finishes very dry and verging on the harsh. From the 12 oz can purchased at Elizabeth Station. Dated 04/09/23. This is the successor to the much less alcoholic XXXXX Stout seen in 22 oz bottles.
