Dark, slightly transparent beer, with tan head that left lacing along the glass rim. Smell was very chocolatey, with a tiny bitterness sneaking through.

Taste is that of a coffee/espresso rather than the chocolate flavors I expected by it's scent. Light apricot tones don't interfere too much, but it isn't spectacular. It's pretty smooth, light chalky texture and thick.

From the taps of the Pike Brewery in Seattle. This porter is a bit disappointing very little character and flavor, which all appears to be masked by the nitro tap. It pours a deep black with a creamy thick head. The aroma is bland and very limited, maybe a bit of the roasted malt breaks through, but not much. The taste is also wiped clean. As it warms a bit, the slight malt flavor peaks out, but not the chocolate notes I would expect. Overall, I would stick to some of the other Pike beers.
