Letra - Cerveja Artesanal Minhota "11˚Anniversary"
440 ml can coded "L64/2024 04/2025
"A DOUBLE IPA made with Cashmere, Citra and Idaho hops to celebrate the 11th anniversary of Cerveja LETRA. Powerful and aromatic, it combines citrus and tropical notes with intense and balanced bitterness. Perfect for those who like a robust and striking IPA."
Notes via stream of consciousness: A very hazy golden body is capped by a finger's width of white foam. There are little chunks of what I'll assume is either yeast or hops in suspension. The aroma offers up tropical fruits and hops resins including citrus, melon, Asiatic lilies, and pine. The taste is fuller, as usual, and delivers lots of tangerine, apricot, papaya, nectarine, soft lemon/lime, berries, and herbs. It's almost tea-like in the finish. The label states that it's made with barley, wheat and oats but I don't really get the oats in the malt. A solid bitterness and some "hop burn" balances it and it's certainly not a New England style IPA but it could easily have been so if they'd throttled back the bitterness as there's more than enough fruitiness and resin present. In the mouth it's medium bodied and crisp. The head retention and lacing could be better, and maybe there could be a little bit more to the aroma but overall it's a very solid double IPA.
