750ml bottle from Lifesource in Salem OR. $6.99 Batch #2 6.2% alc. 22 IBU Beautiful hazelnut brown ale with a gorgeous thick and creamy light tan head. A work of art to behold. Aroma or caramel malts with a bit of demerara sugar cane, also a slight lactic/milky aspect to the smell. Taste is very balanced..milk chocolate, nuts, brown sugar and raisin bread. Good smooth soft mouth feel yet a nice ending drying bitter chocolate in the end, .Very complex ale for the style..contradiction soft yet complex. I really like what this brewer does.

Very impressed with this small Oregon brewery. Really clocks into the style:
Bright, deep brown with a tan, persistent head.
Chocolate, coffee and earth aroma.
Bread crust, toast, caramel and coffee flavors with a light spicy/woody hop character.
Medium light, teetering on light body with clean finish.

Great work. Can't wait to try more.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a dark mahogany brown with a two finger khaki head with great retention and lots of lacing. Aroma of biscuit malt with mild toastiness and a hint of caramel, light cocoa and a hint of hops. Flavor is a blend of biscuit and caramel malts with slight toast, nuts, light cocoa; finishes with a lingering malty cocoa flavor that is quite satisfying. Medium bodied with light creaminess. A nice brown ale that seems a little subdued at first, but the malt and cocoa flavors develop through the taste and leave a nice long aftertaste of well balanced malt and chocolate flavors. Hints of caramel surface as well. Reserved, but nicely flavored.
