Bottled 9/1/15.
Pours an almost opaque super dark crimson-brown with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa powder, earth, char, and slight vanilla aromas. Taste is much the same with slightly tart cocoa powder, char, and vanilla flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roast bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is an above average beer that has pretty solid vanilla aspects, but the slight tartness in the taste detracts from the drinkability for me.
