Poured from a 33cl bottle into a St. Bernardus chalice. Many thanks to Iain for the hook up!

A: Pours a dark, ruby-tinted brown. Not too much head or skim. Decent unbreakable ring, though.

S: Sweet caramel malt, chocolate, and hops in the nose.

T: Sweet caramel malt, toasted malt, chocolate, and noble hops. Finish is quite dry and chocolate-y, also with notes of dry caramel. Excellent sweet and dry malt flavors.

M: Creamy and dry at the same time. Not too sweet and not too bitter. just right. So many doppelbocks are (to me) cloyingly sweet malt bombs, but the mouthfeel on this one seems just right. Excellent balance!

D: This is certainly not my favorite style of beer (see why just above), but, this one seems like it was made for people who are tired of ultra-sweet malty beers.
