a very solid double here, one of the better beers they had during my visit here. crazy how clear it is, no haze at all, and although the head is just a shorty, it looks awesome in the glass. the nose shows northwestern hops, grapefruit rind and fresh cut pine. the freshness is remarkable, it must have just been kegged. resinous with the hops, clearly has some oils in it from the nose. pine again, and pineapple too, bitter enough, and some, but not too much malt heft there to back it up. the flavor is just like the nose, maybe a touch sweet to finish for my tastes, but the hops are awesome in it, its bold, yet drinkable. i think what they nailed down best here is the flavor to abv ratio. no need to dose it with dextrose and make it 10%, that serves no purpose really. they did a nice job flavoring it and spiking abv with grain, and not making it too high. easy enough to drink two of, which i think might be its greatest success. decent carbonation and fuller bodied with a lot of the sugar rounding out in the end. they should can this one too...
