Named for the constant temperature of cool, clear First Magnitude Springs, 72 Pale Ale is a beer for the hop lover, featuring a prominent citrus and floral hop aroma paired with a bready malt note in the background. It has an enticing, light copper color and is balanced, but leans decidedly towards the hops in its flavor and aroma. This beer is medium-bodied with a semi-dry finish that leaves a pleasant herbal/spicy aftertaste. 72 is dry hopped with Cascade, Centennial, and Chinook.

Poured from a 12 oz can that I bought in Gainesville, FL. Thick, rocky head on top of a deep gold colored beer. Hearty aromas from old-school American hops, with citrus, pine and spice. Clean flavors emphasize those spicy, citrusy hops, with a low level of sweet, bready malt toward the finish. Medium body with strong carbonation and a fairly dry finish. High hops bitterness for a pale ale, but not face-melting. This is a well-made, throwback to earlier US pale ales, but maybe just straddling into IPA territory with its level of hops bitterness.

Poured a seethru gold body with decent head and lace sheath down the glass. The aroma is a little grassy and earthy but has some maltiness as well. Clean beer, easy to drink, has a touch of malt heft with caramel sweetness that is underneath a grassy, floral citric hoppiness and finishes clean and easy.

Pours a fairly clear amber with soapy head.

Smell is fruity, sweet and a bit floral. Notes of apricot marmalade, citrus and pine.

Taste is fruity and bit sweet and floral. Solid bitterness and notes of apricot, citrus, pine, marmalade and a hint of green tea.

Mouthfeel is medium, soft and well carbonated.

Overall, a very nice, classic APA.

The beer is not quite hazy but not quite clear and has a decent off-white head on top of an orange-amber body. It smells like a good malt a bouquet of hop aromas, but nothing too distinctive. The taste of that of biscuity malts with floral and grassy hops that give way to a slightly bitter grapefruit taste. The body is really well done. It is luscious with the right amount of carbonation. Overall, it is a good beer that is satisfying.

A: Slightly hazy copper color, large off white head, good lacing
S: Earthy, piney, caramel, cherry
T: I get the hoppy bitterness up front, not as sweet as I expected with the amount of caramely maltiness that I was getting in the nose.
M: Medium
O: Good APA, has an interesting aftertaste that I cant put my finger on. Not bad though.
