A near opaque brown beer turns to a dark red when held up to the light. There is a foamy tan head that doesn't stick around for too long. It smells sweet and roasty with subtle hops. The taste is coffee like for the darker malts. There is earthiness with background floral hoppiness. The beer isn't terribly thick but it is not thin. Mild carbonation. Overall t is an easy drinking beer with a earthy flare.

Ok but this is an American brown ale. Nothing English mild here. Hoppy bitterness and toasty on boarder of ashy. Decent but nothing outstanding.

On tap at the brewery
Clear brown with a finger of tan head, spotty lacing
Chocolate, tobacco, roast malt scents
Nutty, light cocoa, brown bread, light sweetness
Light bodied but good carbonation, full flavored
I did a back to back comparison with Lord Proprietor's Mild and this holds its own. Very nice dark mild.

On draft at Rusty Spoon. Served in a shaker pint glass. Dark brown body, half finger white head, good retention, not much lacing. Smell is chocolate malt, a bit of roast, touch of earth. Clean flavour, light roast, touch of nuttiness, milk chocolate, a bit earthy on the finish. Mouthfeel is lighter medium bodied, good carbonation, smooth and nutty finish. Solid English mild, good flavour and easy to drink.

Oh so this is what an English mild tastes like. They don't call this a mild for no reason folks. This taste like a flavorless stout beer. It's worth a try if you cannot a get a hold of an authentic english mild to taste which I can't. Cheers! C
