The beer is a lovely dark amber that is red when light is shone through it. The head a beige color and is full. On the nose, the malt really comes through with darker roasted and caramel notes predominating. There is a fruitcake character to it in part due to the subtle hopping. Taste-wise there is a roasted malt flavor that doesn't predominate over the lighter malting. There is a earthy quality to it as well. The body is good, but the carbonation is lacking. Overall, a nice malty beer.

Pours a clear dark red-orange, quick fading khaki colored head. Smell is caramel, plummy, toast, mildly earthy. Taste: toasted brown bread, vinous, plum, earthy, cherry cola finish. Finish is a bit rough...tannic, earthy, low carbonation. Was alright, muddled and rough around the edges.
