It's no secret we love our Beagles, so why not name a beer after them? English style brown ale, no north or south, just English brown. A dry ale with layers of darker malt, chocolate, hints of dry roast, toffee and some coffee. Easy to drink at 5.6% ABV

On draft at the brewery, nonic pint glass
Clear chestnut brown color, thick khaki colored head. Nice toasted malt flavor and taste. Well balanced, not sweet nor dry. Medium bodied.

April 1st, 2015 - My third taster here at Bagby's is the 3 Beagles Brown and it is beginning to show a pattern: Bagby's Beers absolutely nail the palate and mouthfeel for each style. Here, too, with the brown ale the crispness and strength is spot on, supporting the initial sweetness up front. That sweeter aspect fades quickly, revealing notes of cinnamon and raisin, but these too don't last very long. The aroma is a little more stable, with some toffee and cigar leaf. I find this more enjoyable than the flavor, though neither qualities are especially poor.

Gotta have some love for anyone making a brown ale these days. Obvious comparison is AleSmith's Nut Brown, and I think this one holds up well, not much of those light chocolate notes you get in the former, more of a dark bread thing, light earthy hops, little bit of fruit tang assumedly from the ale yeast. What to say -- this is an easy drinker and a welcome change of pace in the land of of the IPA.
