April 1st, 2015 - My last beer here at Bagby's (newly opened, I would add) is the dark and brooding Mootown Philly. Murky and with a swampy, bog like head, it looks appealing in its darkness. Sadly, the smell is hard to collect from the taster glass, but what I do detect is some soy sauce umami and freshly churned, rich soil. The flavor features some slight tang, with a sweet chalkiness, and a little bit of waxy chocolate. That gives the overall impression of a fresh and yogurty brew, in contrast to the aroma.
