On tap at Bagby Beer Co – Oceanside, CA
Full pint served in a Tulip glass – 05/17/2015
A: Pours a golden honey blonde with a mix of burnished gold and soft amber painted in. Well-conditioned look with some minimal hazing towards the core. An ivory white rim remains fairly thin and frothy as it abruptly settles out to a small crown. Light streaking and scattered lace noted.
S: Malt sweet on the nose but with solid dose of Citra flowers. Has a real zesty grapefruit and pine note with some floral aromatics and touch of herbal goodness. Detecting a light bready note underneath. A balanced nose that beckons for consumption.
T: Sugary grapefruit with a honey cracker malt sweetness. Citrus peel, pine, mild gooseberry, and dank herbs unveil amidst a generous amount of puckering bitterness. Greatly balanced with the malts and keeping the alcohol well masked. This is nicely done with a dry quenching finish and some herbal resinous linger.
M: Moderate to lighter fullness. Nice ample amount of carbonation pop coupled with a fair amount of constricting bitterness. Dry in the finish with a lasting linger.
D: Probably my favorite of Bagby’s hoppy selection so far. Great Citra flavor and aroma with ample malt support. More on point with what you come to expect here.

Upon smelling I immediately think of brew days and adding all the hop additions. Just a big bold hop smell.
Tasting it almost tastes like it smells. Lots of hoppy piney notes. Bitter aftertaste, like a good IPA, but really refreshing.
The only thing I'm not a fan of, in my opinion, is that maybe there's to much CO2. If it had less it would be a super smooth drink and would be very dangerous because I could put these away.
