On tap into a 10 oz. tulip glass. One inch foamy head dissipates quickly into thick lace. Decent accumulation at the edges of the glass. Pours a perfectly clear straw blonde. Carbonation is present in the center of the glass, but not particularly lively. Nose is fairly bright, with a yeasty funk and a bit of mashed bananas and underripe peach mingling with some warming spice. First taste yields a wild flavor with a quick alcoholic bite and a milky sourness (lactobacillus?) that fades into a malty background. The second taste reveals a bit of brown sugar sweetness as well. The mouthfeel begins light and lively, but the carbonation-induced prickliness fades too quickly, yielding a flat and thin liquid before I even had a chance to swallow. It’s a bit odd, but this beer seems like it possesses some of the defining characteristics of a lambic as well as a dubel-or-tripel style. It’s pretty good, but it seems more like a novelty than something I would reach for more than once.
