as much as this beer is sort of non distinct and could have come from any number of breweries, i like it a lot, and i reckon the world needs more beers like this, especially this time of year, when all the seasonal stuff seems to be huge, spiced, or aged in a barrel. enormous beers are awesome, but little beers are great too, and i appreciated this one a lot. a very light copper color to this and a creamy khaki colored head to it almost an inch tall. it shines brightly in the pint glass, great clarity. a nice classic english biscuity and bready malt complexion to it, with some toasted and baked sort of warmth and sweetness there at the same time, short of nutty or earthy, but this is nicely grounded and balanced for such a simple and easy drinking beer. light caramel and toffee, dried red apple, and hearty cereals. english ale yeast rounds it out nicely, and it has good body for its low abv. this is a nice easy drinking beer, especially in the winter time, and while i thought it was like all the beers in here in its overall simplicity and approachability, i dont think that is a bad thing to become known for. enjoyable pint in a largely forgotten style!
