50cl bottle poured into Paulaner Seidel
BBE 16 June 2011
A- Mahongany body with ruby highlights, excellent clarity. Creamy solid 3 finger head reduces to 1 finger but has good staying power and lacing also is good.
S- Light chocolate malt and wholemeal bread munich malt quality.
T- The wholemeal bread munich malt quality comes through again finishing with a more toasted malt note although flavours are subdued. No real suggestion of rich malt complexity as expected in a doppelbock however i doubt this has been categorized properly.Lager clean finish.
M Low/medium carbonation, light body for a doppelbock.
D- This has the feel of a Munich Dunkel rather than a doppelbock. Lacks the malt richness of the style, nevertheless its easy drinking with a clean finish, just lacks complexity.

Aclear, deep brown beer wirh a creamy head that stays on the beer.
Smell is strong malty with husky and nutty notes. Nice German yeast character that has some sulfur in it.
Taste is intense malty with nutty dark malts that are caramellic. I have categorized this beer as being a Doppelbock, but at 5,5% it is not as strong and it's body is not as big. This makes drinkability a bit better.
